Tips Needed: Blogging for SEO
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
I hope you all enjoyed the conclusion to the Campaign vs. Content debate last week. I had a great time thinking about everyone’s input. As I write this I’m putting together an ebook that compiles the whole debate in one place. I’ll let you know more about this project when it’s closer to being done.
Today, I’ve got a new shorter-term project that I’d like your help on. I’m trying to put together a set of checklists and worksheets for blogging best practices. Thing is, there are so many of them that it’s hard to figure out which are the most important.
Here’s where I need your help. There are lots of different reasons to blog — for lead conversion, PR, product updates, and so on — and each of them has its own set of best practices. So if we’re talking about blogging for SEO, what are the can’t-do-without-it most important things to keep in mind when creating a blog strategy?

Facebook
Twitter
LinkedIn
RSS
I think that an important one is remembering that quality content comes first – write with SEO in mind, but write for your audience.
Jean — Quality content is definitely one element of blogging for SEO that’s overlooked. Personally, I subscribe to the “create first, optimize later” philosophy, simply because on this blog quality interaction matters more than search engine ranking. For bloggers who need to focus on search rank, however, it’s tempting to sacrifice style for SEO. As you point out, this is a big no-no. Thanks for the input!
