Quick Overview of Google+ Pages

This is a quick-and-dirty (and by no means comprehensive) overview of some of the things that come with your Google+ Business Page. If you haven’t done so already, you should create a page for your business, even if you think you’ll never use it again.

Setup is a breeze. There’s nothing complicated about it. Select your business category, fill out the fields, and voila, you’re in.

When you sign in to your personal G+ account, this is what you see:

I’ve created two Pages so far (one for the blog, one for the podcast that I haven’t created yet), and you can see that I can select either here. When I select one of the pages, I begin using Google+ as that page:

That’s a little truncated, but the apostrophe-s indicates that I’m actually using G+ as my blog. Also interesting is the pre-loaded Circles:

This is Google giving you an idea as to what you should be doing as a business with a Page. (Actually, it’s Google screaming at you to please, for the love of all things holy, use your Page like a user, not like a business. You’re doing that anyway, right? Right.)

Further evidence of the do-as-the-users-do mentality? The encouragement to start Hangouts with customers and to use your personal G+ account to spread the word:

And, of course, if you elect to spread the word via your personal account, you can choose exactly who you’d like to share it with:

So there’s nothing crazy interesting about Pages on the surface of things, but as I play around with it, I’ll let you know what other cool stuff I find.
